[My Mission]

To champion equity & inclusion through projects that center & uplift marginalized communities.

Regardless of the form my work takes, my goals are always: to bring people together, to showcase and uplift marginalized communities, and to create engaging, intentional, bespoke programs and communications with purpose.

Natalia Kay-O’Brien is a queer, feminist, neurodivergent creative, organizer, and strategist living on land stewarded for millennia by the Kathlamet, Chinook, Clatskanie, and Confederated Tribes of Grande Ronde and Siletz (a.k.a. Portland, Oregon) with 25 years of experience providing vision, leadership, and strategy to projects that center and uplift marginalized communities. Natalia began promoting music in high school and producing events and conferences in college. After moving to Portland in 1999, her work evolved to include artist representation, management, and promotion.

In 2004 Kay-O’Brien co-founded Siren Nation, a presenting arts organization dedicated to promoting women artists, and spent seven years building the organization through recruitment, fundraising, and event production. In 2011, Natalia earned a Master's in Public Administration at Portland State University, and since then has primarily worked in fundraising, volunteer coordinating, and program management. Her work in nonprofits includes experience in the arts, higher education, social services, and advocacy organizations.

Oriented toward socially just projects and organizations, Affinity Projects’ offerings have continued evolving to include a broad scope of services: event planning, production, and coordination; copywriting for newsletters, reports, email marketing, and social media; project planning and support; organizational and communications strategy; and development and execution of fundraising and marketing campaigns.

Natalia’s work is motivated by a lifelong passion for social justice, and the belief that everyone deserves to be safe, well, and able to access the resources needed to thrive.
